The SR-72, often referred to as the "Son of the Blackbird", is a hypersonic concept aircraft used by the United States for Intelligence, Surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR). The SR-72 was proposed in 2013 as the successor to the retired SR-71 "Blackbird". It is expected that the SR-72 will undergo test flights in 2025 and may be put into use in the 2030s.
